Scorpio Season: Do We Really Want to Know?

after libra season asked us to rethink beauty, scorpio season asks a harder question: how much do we really need to know about each other?

Scorpio season has a way of bringing our attention to the things we keep hidden. The secrets we hold, the questions we ask, and the parts of ourselves we are not always ready to share.
There is something intriguing about mystery, especially when it comes to the people we love. We want to know everything about someone, from their childhood memories to the thoughts they are too afraid to say out loud. But what happens when knowing more changes the way we see them?
The Comfort of Knowing Everything
I think a lot of us confuse knowing someone with understanding them completely. When we care about someone, we naturally want to know their whole story. We want to understand why they do the things they do, what they have been through, and whether there is anything we should know before getting too attached.
Sometimes, asking questions is less about curiosity and more about wanting reassurance that we are safe with someone.
We convince ourselves that if we just knew one more thing, we could finally feel secure.
But there is a difference between wanting to understand someone and feeling entitled to every part of their past. Not every unanswered question is a threat, and not every detail needs to be uncovered for a relationship to be real.
Would You Rather Know the Truth?
The film The Drama, starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, is a good example of this. A personal revelation turns what should be an exciting time in a relationship into a moment of questioning everything you thought you knew about someone.
We always say we want honesty, but do we really want to know everything? What if the truth is something we cannot stop thinking about, or something that makes us question the person we thought we knew?
I think this happens in everyday relationships more than we realize. You find out something about a friend or someone you’re dating, and suddenly you start looking at certain moments differently. Things that never seemed like a big deal before suddenly have a whole new meaning.
It makes you wonder if knowing more actually brings us closer, or if sometimes it just gives us more to overthink.
Of course, honesty is important, but I don’t think that means we need to know every single thing about someone. There’s a difference between being open with each other and feeling like we have to share every part of ourselves. Sometimes, people need time to figure out how they feel before they’re ready to talk about it.
POTENTIAL SPOILER:
Privacy Is Not the Same as Secrecy
I feel like we romanticize mysterious people until we are the ones trying to figure them out. Someone who keeps to themselves and doesn't share everything can seem so interesting at first. But when it comes to someone we actually care about, not knowing everything can feel a lot less exciting.
I think the tricky part is figuring out where privacy ends and secrecy begins. Everyone should be allowed to have parts of their life that are just for them. You might need time to process something before talking about it, or there might be things from your past you simply don't feel the need to share.
But when does keeping something to yourself start affecting the other person?
Research has found that people tend to feel less satisfied in their relationships on days when they hide more from their partner. People who were already less satisfied with their relationships also tended to be more preoccupied with the secrets they were keeping. This suggests that secrecy isn't necessarily what causes relationship problems, but it can be a sign that trust or closeness is already missing. (Davis and Tabri, 2023).
At the same time, we live in a world where sharing everything has almost become normal. We can meet someone for the first time and end up telling them our deepest insecurities or entire relationship history. It can feel like you've instantly connected, but does that mean you actually know each other?
Being vulnerable with someone can bring you closer, but I don't think real intimacy happens just because you've told someone everything about yourself. I think it comes from getting to know someone over time, building trust, and feeling comfortable enough to be yourself without having to explain every little thing.
Research by psychologist Arthur Aron found that conversations involving gradually deeper personal questions helped people feel closer to one another than ordinary small talk. (Cherry, 2026). It makes me think that intimacy isn't necessarily about how much we share, but about how we open up to someone and allow that connection to develop naturally.
Maybe we don't need to know everything about someone to feel close to them. Maybe we just need to know that we can trust them with the things that matter.
Learning to Live With the Unknown
Moving from Iowa to New York has put me around so many new people, and it's made me realize how much there is to someone beyond what you see at first. You can meet someone, grab coffee, spend an entire night talking, and still only know a small part of their life. Everyone has their own experiences, relationships, and things they're still figuring out that you might not know about for a long time.
I think that's part of what makes getting to know someone so interesting. There's always more to learn, even about the people we feel closest to.
Maybe we put too much pressure on ourselves to know everything about the people we love. I think a lot of it comes from wanting to protect ourselves. We want to avoid getting hurt or finding out that someone isn't who we thought they were. But no matter how many questions we ask, we can never completely predict another person.

That's what makes Scorpio season so intriguing. It's associated with secrets, trust, and everything that exists beneath the surface. We're drawn to what we don't know, especially when it comes to people we care about. But sometimes, I wonder if we're actually looking for answers or just trying to feel more in control.
I think that's something worth remembering this Scorpio season. Getting close to someone means accepting that you won't always have every answer, and learning to be okay with that.
Even if you found out everything about someone tomorrow, would you actually feel closer to them? Or would you just find something new to question?
Maybe the point isn't to uncover every secret or know someone's entire story. It's to build a relationship where you feel comfortable asking questions, being honest, and trusting each other without needing to know every single detail. This Scorpio season, what if the real work isn't uncovering what's hidden, but figuring out why we're so afraid of not knowing?
