Libra season is all about beauty, harmony, and taking care of both yourself and your community. It's ruled by Venus, the planet of aesthetics, love, and justice, so yes, that’s your cosmic permission to care about skincare and social change at the same time.
This season, we’re spotlighting an organization that lives that energy every single day: Beauty2theStreetz.
Meet Beauty2theStreetz
Beauty2theStreetz was started by Shirley Raines, a literal force of nature who brings beauty, hygiene, food, and human connection to unhoused communities in Los Angeles.
What started as giving out toiletries has evolved into a full-blown movement: Shirley and her team now provide hair color, makeup, showers, hot meals, and emotional support to people living on the streets, especially Black and brown women who are often overlooked.
She shows up with color, care, and boldness — pink wigs, full glam, and all. And honestly? That’s Libra energy in action: making people feel seen, valued, and beautiful, no matter their circumstances.
Why it fits with Libra Season
Libra isn’t just about beauty for beauty’s sake, it’s about radical empathy, aesthetic justice, and restoring balance in places where it's been lost. Beauty2theStreetz proves that beauty isn’t frivolous — it’s humanizing. It’s healing.
When someone does your hair or hands you a clean shirt, it reminds you: you matter.
The Scales of Justice, Literally
Libra rules balance, and there's a massive imbalance in how we treat people experiencing homelessness. We look away. We criminalize poverty. We forget that housed or unhoused, we're all human beings who deserve dignity.
Beauty2theStreetz gives people a chance to see something in themselves other than homelessness. They're actively working to rebalance those scales, one person at a time.
This is the kind of Libra season energy we should all be channeling. Not just curating the perfect aesthetic for ourselves, but extending that care outward to create actual equity in our communities.
So this month, we’re taking a page from Shirley’s book.
How you can support:

Volunteer or support local hygiene aid efforts in your city
-
Rethink how you view people experiencing homelessness—with compassion instead of judgment.
Libra season suggests that beauty isn’t trivial — it’s tactical. Sometimes balance begins with a warm meal and a fresh face. And in a world this chaotic, care might just be the most subversive kind of style.
